This fine wine has been produced in honour of John Anderson, founder of Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland.
Born in Scotland in 1747, John Anderson migrated to Ireland in 1780 and become a successful merchant in Cork. He purchased the village of Fermoy and its surrounds in 1791 and developed the town by establishing, among other things, the military barracks, two churches, a school, an agricultural society, a flour mill, coachworks and a bank. His influence went much wider when, in 1789 under contract to the Post Office, he established the Mail Coach system across the entire country. By providing the coaches, horses, stables and staff as well as repairing the roads, he enabled safe, cheap and fast travel throughout the whole of Ireland.
His great-great-great-grandson John Anderson and his wife Beryl established a vineyard in Margaret River, Western Australia ,in 1984 and named it Fermoy Estate in honour of the founder of Fermoy, Ireland.Colour is light crimson with a purple hue. Lifted aromas of briary leaf and red berry with hints of charry oak. A light elegant palate of red cherry and savoury herbs with the subtle integration of spicy oak.
